Since entering the industrial arena in 1985, Sparkling Clear Industries has focused and funneled its resources on providing industrial air filter products and liquid filter products for its customers. A recent Sparkling Clear project at a food processing plan provides an example of SCI’s capabilities, which includes designing and delivering industrial filter equipment.
What we’ve done in the industrial filter industry:
The food processing plant, located in Memphis, Tennessee, wasn’t able to use the water from a newly-drilled well for boiler and cooling tower make up due to the high level of iron in the well water. This resulted in higher than expected plant operating costs since they had to purchase city water for these uses.
SCI first became involved in a field trial at the plant of DMI-65, a revolutionary new filtration media manufactured by Quantum Filtration Medium in estern Australia. DMI-65 is a silica-sand-based filtration media that will remove iron, manganese and arsenic when operated in the presence of chlorine (sodium hypochlorite). The purpose of the trial was to determine the effectiveness of the iron removal properties of DMI-65 and to ascertain the appropriate hydraulic flow rate (in gallons per minute) for the required equipment.
SCI also represents Yardney Water Filtration Systems, who operate out of Riverside, California. Yardney has many years of experience under their belt in the design and fabrication of equipment that utilizes a wide variety of filtration media. SCI was called upon not only to conduct the field trial, but also to design and propose a system that would make the well water suitable for the cooling towers and boilers. The field trial was successfully concluded and the design shortly followed suit.
