Filter Media Online: Bonus, it is recycled
April 22, 2013

At Sparkling Clear Industries, we’re a liquid and air filtration resource that’s focused on the industrial, manufacturing and commercial sectors. When it comes to our filter media, we especially zero in on the environment by supplying and distributing reactivated carbon. Not only do we save some significant carbon-waste poundage from the landfills, SCI is also proud to say that we keep some company processes online with our quick supplier response. At the end of the day, SCI can be a one-stop resource for commercial filter media online as well as a supplier for future refills and maintenance.

Filter media online: What they are, what we do

Filter medias are used for many different applications, including filtering process water , chemicals, cooling towers and waste-water. They can be used for drying air, removing water from chemicals, support for catalyst distillation towers, blending with other products and many other applications. Sometimes, the ability to have these products in stock means the difference in a plant or process being shut down or continuing to stay online.

Reactivated Carbon filter media: How’d we get it?

Due to our supplier relationships, we work with Adsorbent Solutions- a company decked to the nines in permits and reactivation patents- to deliver recycled carbon to your job site. In fact, Adsorbent’s reactivation facility in St. Gabriel, Louisiana is the only one of its kind on the Gulf Coast.  Benefits of reactivated carbon filter media include:

  • Significant freight savings from the Gulf Coast Reactivation Facility.
  • High-quality, cost-effective reactivated carbon.
  • Elimination of landfill fees.
  • Fully permitted carbon reactivation facility.
  • Liability protection.
  • Prompt response time.

Stewart Fulton, president at Adsorbent, LLC, explained that converting to recycled, reactivated carbon takes time to get the transformation through corporate, but the quality and savings aren’t something to be ignored.

“Basically you’re getting 90 percent performance, yet 50 percent of the savings compared to purchasing virgin carbon each time,” said Fulton.

However, virgin carbon is required in some applications, instead of reactivated carbon. We  provide virgin carbon for liquid phase applications in super sacks, drums, carbon vessels or vapor boxes.
Sparkling Clear also stocks virgin carbon, anthracite, ion exchange resin, sand, gravel, garnet,  ceramic catalyst support media, green-sand, activated alumina desiccant, filter-aide (DE, Cellulose, Perlite) and molecular sieve medias.

Filter media online: Maintenance and replacement

SCI is unique, because we’re committed to service and the reputation that’s built along with it. We have the ability to remove spent media, inspect, repair and reload a system with new media, at times within a six to 12 hour time frame. Whether it’s an emergency or you’re a long-time client and friend, we look forward to keeping your business online. No matter your industry, we look forward to opening our vast warehouse to your needs. Contact us today and we’ll set get all of your air and water filtration needs taken care of.

Sparkling Clear Industries has expanded its NOMAD product offerings with new GuardEx stainless steel air valves and center sections for ¼-, ½-, 1-, 1.5-, and 2-inch metallic AODD pumps. These components can be used as replacement spares or to configure a fully stainless steel, ATEX-compliant NOMAD PWR-FLO™ pump, helping improve durability and performance in demanding industrial environments. The GuardEx™ ADS design allows operators to repair or upgrade existing pumps more easily, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. With enhanced corrosion resistance and reliability, the stainless steel configuration is well suited for chemical processing, coatings, and other harsh service applications.

Production demands can change quickly, especially in chemical manufacturing. Recently, one of our customers on the Houston Ship Channel reached out with an urgent need for increased liquid filtration capacity. Their facility required a multi-round bag filter housing to support higher production rates. Because we maintain rental equipment at our Clute facility, we were able to respond quickly. The 12-round bag filter housing was loaded onto our truck Friday morning and delivered to their facility that same afternoon, helping them move forward without delay. No extended lead times. No waiting on freight. No production bottleneck.
