This past week, a member of
Sparkling Clear Industries’ leadership team volunteered at the Sink Your Shucks oyster reef restoration event at Goose Island State Park. Volunteers filled bags with recycled oyster shells and placed them in St. Charles Bay, giving those shells a second life as the foundation for new oyster reef habitat.
Why does that matter? Living oysters filter bay water as they feed, while their reefs provide valuable habitat for fish, crabs, and other marine life. Returning shells to the water helps give young oysters a place to attach and grow, supporting the next generation of these natural filters.
As a company that works in industrial and commercial filtration every day, we appreciate the role oysters play in maintaining healthy coastal waters. The Gulf Coast is where we live, work, and spend time outdoors, so opportunities to help care for it mean something to us. It was also great to see
Coastal Conservation Association, an organization we’re proud to support, out there alongside the community.
Thank you to the Sink Your Shucks program, the Harte Research Institute, and everyone who helped give back to our Gulf Coast!
